Solow's 1302 GL

A renovation of a classic

Forfatter: Solow

Standard beetle rust.

Got to do some vacuum, and now i just need to take the last small dampening off the floorpans.
Pulled all the windows out, and found the usual rust in the windscreen area. Pulled the tank out, and there was suprisingly not much rust down there, and as a bonus, someone did put in a new tank at some point 🙂

Bitumen.. gotta hate it

Started to clean up the floorpans today, and hey, not a single rust hole !!, but damn the old bitumen sounddampening was hard to get off.
Can’t say the same about the rear panel, so decided to just cut it, and make an detacheable panel when time is. Hopefully i’ll get time to vacuum the floor tomorrow.

Starting too work..

So.. now i just begin to disassemble the car, so that i can see what i have to do with.
The engine turns over (Kind off) manually, but it feels like something is stuck inside, but hey whats to expect from a car that was last registred in 1998 !!

Hmmm…

After cleaning out the car, i must say that it looked like S… !!
The dude i bought it from, told me that the rust was minimal since there already had been made a lot of repairs.. He just forgot to tell me it was made by a blind monkey with no arms 🙂 Thruth is, that it probably was made by his son at the age of 16, who had the car as his first project. Damn, i hope he got better at welding 🙂

Organizing.

Since the whole renovation is going to be performed in the smallest garage, it’s all about cleaning up and organizing stuff.

Day 1.

Picking up the project.

The ad on FB.

Saw the advert on Facebook marketplace on Dec 17, which was really not a good time considering christmas coming on hard. Called the dude and told him i wasn’t able to pick it up until start of the new year, and that was cool with him.
